P Natalizio [ pbpm146@theima.org ]  February 2006

Fellow Members,

Last month, we were pleased to join the Raritan Valley Chapter and their members at their monthly meeting in January.  Joe Tighe III discussed many of the changes to income tax laws that our members will be affected by this tax season.  We will be joining the Raritan Valley Chapter for our final Chapter meeting this year for the Financial Executive of the Year presentation.

This month, our speaker, Karen L. Jett, founder of Jett Excellence, will lead a discussion on “Rescuing Your Accounting Department from Gilligan’s Island.”  She will analyze how effective communication techniques will enable you to align your goals with those of other departments and achieve buy-in to the accounting department's needs.

The IMA is an excellent way to embrace a renewed focus to furthering your professional interests.  Our Chapter’s meetings and functions can serve as a window to the outside world - get a different perspective on things, see how other companies conduct business, and examine what your competition is doing.  You’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you can learn at a Chapter meeting for your fellow professionals in the IMA!

Two ways that the IMA focuses on your professional interests are coming into focus over the next few months.  One is the IMA’s Annual Conference & Exposition that will be held June 17-21, 2006 in Las Vegas.  More information will be available at http://www.imanet.org.  Another option is the New Jersey Council’s Advanced Microsoft Access and PowerPoint training that will be held in Iselin on Friday May 5.  Please visit http://morrisessex.imanet.org for more information.

Please RSVP to Ed Kaye ( ekaye@gspintl.com ) or reply to this address before next Wednesday, so we know how many members to expect at the meeting. See you on Wednesday February 15 at the Hanover Manor in East Hanover.
