Dear Fellow Members,

 

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  The next technical meeting of the chapter year will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Ramada Inn in Somerset, NJ.  This will be a special meeting because:

 

•           This will be a joint meeting with the Raritan Valley Chapter of the IMA.  Joint meetings with other IMA Chapters are a chance for members of each chapter to expand their network of IMA contacts.

•           The speaker will be Lilibeth Hanlon, CPA, CMA, CISA, MBA.  Lilibeth’s topic will be XBRL Concepts and Applications.  I’ve had the pleasure of working with Lilibeth in the past, and I learned a lot from her then.  XBRL is one of today’s “hot topics” in management accounting, so it should be a very enlightening presentation.

 

I would like to thank Steve Lord, CMA, CFM of Lord Knows for his presentation on Information Design for Successful Communication at our December holiday meeting.  Steve’s presentations are always entertaining as well as informative, and once again Steve made our last meeting of 2008 an enjoyable event.

 

As always, we invite our members to volunteer their time to get involved with their Chapter.  Here are some ideas of how you can help:

 

•           Join the Board.  We can always use more help.

•           Provide suggestions for topics and/or speakers for our chapter meetings (either to me or any Board member).

•           Give ideas on how we can improve our chapter, as well as how our chapter can help you maximize the benefit of your membership in the IMA.

•           Be sure to attend our chapter meetings, usually held at the Hanover Manor on the third Wednesday of each month.
