Ira Berkowitz will discuss the

1. His life in advertising - moving from Madison Ave. to Main Street.
2. How he built his business.
3. Transitioning from traditional print to digital marketing.
4. Dealing with a shifting business outlook and client base.
Ira Berkowitz is the owner of Monarch Communications, a graphic design/website design/ advertising agency located in Millburn, NJ. Ira joined Monarch Graphics (now Monarch Communications) in 1993. Three years later, he became the owner of Monarch and moved the business to Millburn. Monarch’s core clientele consists of small to medium sized businesses, and non-profit organizations. As a small business owner and entrepreneur, Ira wears many hats – account manager, creative director, copywriter/editor, consultant, production manager, and he even answers the phones.
Prior to joining Monarch, Ira worked in the TV commercial production industry as a producer and director’s representative. He worked on campaigns for several Fortune 500 companies including Nabisco, General Mils, Wendy’s and United Airlines.
Ira is a 1982 graduate of Syracuse University. To say the least, he is an active Syracuse alum, currently serving his 14th year as President of the Syracuse University Northern New Jersey Alumni Club. He resides in Short Hills with his wife Linda (SU ’83), a realtor for Sotheby’s Prominent Properties, and their dog Cosmo. Their daughter Allie (SU ’11) resides in Los Angeles and their son Zach (SU ’14) lives in Brooklyn. Both kids work in the entertainment business.
When he is not working, Ira can be found on the golf course in search of being a single digit handicap, cooking, at the movies, or walking in South Mountain Reservation with Cosmo.
