President's Message

To our colleagues in the Morris-Essex Chapter of the IMA:

Welcome to our 2021-2022 Chapter year for the Morris-Essex Chapter of the IMA!

The past year has presented many challenges from Covid-19. Unfortunately it has changed our personal and professional lives. Granted our face to face dinner meetings with professional development have been halted at the direction of the Global office to protect everyone from the virus spread. Fortunately Global has provided many free webinars so you can continue learning and earning CPE. On the personal side, many of us have been volunteering for charitable, non-profit organizations and helping those less fortunate. Also it has been a wonderful time to reach out to family and friends. I have reconnected with some high school and college friends from 45-50 years ago. Hopefully you have had new interesting stories or new activities presented.

In past years our chapter received many awards at the Annual Convention which follow:
Runner Up for the Community Service and Social Media Awards
Bronze Medal for the Public Relations Award and Silver Medal for the Newsletter Award.

IMA can help you also. Become Certified as a CMA. Our chapter is dedicating resources to get the local colleges to recognize the IMA and encourage the CMA path. Seton Hall, Montclair State,  NJIT, Centenary and Rutgers are just a few that have been and may be approached during the Chapter year.  Also, local businesses will be invited to encourage their financial personnel to participate with their employees’ CMA advancement and to join our speaking engagements with the colleges.

Take a look at the IMA website and join the IMA Linked In group. In addition, there will be webinars offered by IMA Global.

Participate virtually in the Annual Convention in June 2022.

We do need your help to make Morris Essex stronger. It does not have to be a time consuming task. We do enjoy participating in community service projects also.  Please let a member of the board know of your interest.

We look forward to serving as your Chapter president and hopefully meeting you at a technical session in the coming year.
