Lease Accounting and China

Chester.jpgOn Wednesday, May 16, 2018, Norm Chester will speak to the chapter on Lease Accounting and the Converged Standard.  He will also discuss his recent trip to Chengdu, China.
        Norm has 36 years of accounting, finance and controllership experience in international banking with Chase Manhattan, ABN Amro, and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), most recently as financial controller of Global Restructuring Group Americas at RBS, where he worked with their defaulted commercial loan portfolio as the
height of the financial industry collapse and bailout in 2008. He has also provided accounting and financial support to other businesses including equipment leasing, commercial real estate finance, and asset based lending.
       Currently, Norm teaches accounting and finance at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Bergen Community College.
        A member of the Bergen‐Rockland‐Meadowlands Chapter, Norm presented at the 2015 and 2017 IMA NJ Fall Conferences and at the IMA Annual Conference in 2016. He is scheduled to speak again at the next annual conference in Indianapolis. He was also a visiting scholar at the Chengdu American Center for Study Abroad in Chengdu, China this past summer.
        An avid runner, Norm has completed 21 marathons and currently serves as Treasurer of the North Jersey Masters Track & Field Club.
